Hong Kong's dominant air carrier Cathay Pacific Airways said on Tuesday it has agreed to buy six Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for about USD$1.61 billion.

The news follows an announcement by Cathay last Thursday that it planned to buy 30 Airbus aircraft for about USD$7.82 billion amid a revival in international traffic
